Scientific Advisors

Dr. John E. Hale

Dr. Hale received his B.S. in chemistry from the University of Missouri in 1978 and his Ph.D. in biochemistry from the University of South Carolina in 1986. After a postdoctoral fellowship in the biology department of the University of California at San Diego he joined Hybritech Inc. in 1988 as a research scientist where he led research efforts on a number of monoclonal antibody diagnostic projects. In 1991, he joined the antibody-engineering group at Hybritech working on in vivo diagnostic and therapeutic applications of monoclonal antibodies. Dr. Hale joined the Biotechnology Research group at Lilly Research Laboratories in 1994. While at LRL, he formed the proteomics group and directed multiple biomarker and target discovery programs. Since retiring from LRL in 2011, he has been a consultant in biotechnology. Dr. Hale is the author of 70 scientific publications and holds 7 patents in the area of protein biochemistry.

Dr. Peter T. Kissinger

Peter Kissinger was most recently the CEO of Prosolia. Dr. Kissinger is the founder of Bioanalytical Systems, Inc., which he led from 1974-2007, and is a part time Professor of Chemistry at Purdue University, West Lafayette, Indiana. Dr. Kissinger received a B.S. in Chemistry (1966) from Union College, Schenectady, N.Y. and a Ph.D. in Analytical Chemistry (1970) from the University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill. Prior to joining the faculty at Purdue in 1975, Kissinger was a Research Associate at the University of Kansas (1970-1972) and an Assistant Professor at Michigan State University (1972-1975).

Dr. Dongping Zhong

Dongping Zhong received his B.S. in laser physics from Huazhong University of Science and Technology (China) and his Ph.D. in Chemistry from California Institute of Technology in 1999 under Prof. Ahmed H. Zewail. For his Ph.D. work, Dr. Zhong received The Herbert Newby McCoy Award and the Milton and Francis Clauser Doctoral Prize from Caltech. He continued his postdoctoral research in the same group with focus on protein dynamics. In 2002, he joined The Ohio State University as an Assistant Professor and currently he is Robert Smith Professor of Physics and Professor of Chemistry and Biochemistry. He is the Packard Fellow, Sloan Fellow, Camille Dreyfus Teacher-Scholar as well as the recipient of the NSF CAREER award. His research interests include biomolecular interactions and ultrafast protein dynamics.

Shrikumar Suryanarayan

Shrikumar is currently Chairman of Sea6Energy Pvt. Ltd. Prior to that, he was Chief Executive Officer of the Biosciences Cluster being developed by the Government of India at Faridabad in the National Capital Region, New Delhi. He was formerly the President of Research and Development at Biocon Limited, Bangalore, India and the Chief Scientific Advisor for the company for over 24 years.
